Claiming area championships, four Canadian CyberCats Robotics teams qualified to advance to the annual TCEA State Robotics competition slated for April 12 in Deer Park. Canadian swept the Intermediate Division claiming first and second places in both Arena and Inventions competitions.
Teams from Baker Elementary School, Canadian Middle School and Canadian High School competed at the robotics event held at the Region 16 Educational Service Center in Amarillo on January 11.
CMS took first and second in Inventions and first in Arena to qualify for state. The Midcat 2 Black Ops Bot Team, first-place Inventions, was composed of Ellen Abraham, Emily Alexander, Tess Sawyer and Tate Mitchell. The second-place Mid Cat 3 Pest X Inventions Team members included Grace Abraham, Jacob Isom, Trey McPherson and Alex Smith. CMS Inventors are coached by Tricia Mitchell.
In the Arena competition, CMS Team 1 of Tayler Dockray, Sebastian Lugo, Matthew Lynch and Kyler McClendon claimed first place with second place going to the BES team of Colton Cooper, Joshua Culwell, Sam Fry and Lane Hedgecoke. Taking third place was the BES team of Allison Culwell, Logan Gatlin and Will Hayes.
The BES teams are coached by JJ Cullender and CMS by Chara Brown.
