It’s the third year that the Canadian River Art Center has staged an exhibit for local artists. The event has proved to be popular with both art lovers and participants. This year’s impressive line-up, entitled “Caprock Inspirations,” includes seven painters and five photographers, 12 artists in all. Six of them hail from Canadian, two from rural Lipscomb County, three from Higgins, and one from Elk City, Oklahoma.
The show is sponsored by the Canadian Arts Alliance. It will open on Thursday, February 6, with a reception from 6 to 8 pm. “Caprock Inspirations” will be on display through March 22.
“Every year our amazing local artists bring new work and every year we have new artists showing,” said Mistie Walser, gallery and events director for Canadian River Art. “It just continues to amaze me that a town of our size has such talent, not to mention the sheer number of artists we have living in the area. If you’re looking for art that reflects our small Texas town, this is the show for you.”
The painters are Amy Winton, Arlene Walker and Mary Laubhan of Lipscomb County, Rebecca Ashley of Higgins, and Lauren Haley, Cara Dawn Macias and Peyton Aufill, all of Canadian. The photographers are Terry Henderson, Natalie Pino and Dick Wilberforce of Canadian, Melanie Davis of Higgins, and Rob Goddard of Elk City, Oklahoma.
