A Chapter Of Rodeo History Is Destroyed In Hext Ranch Hay Barn Fire Monday

Hext FireA fire destroyed a hay barn on the Bill Hext Ranch east of Glazier Monday afternoon, claiming the hay stored inside along with several rodeo trophy saddles won by two generations of “rodeo girls,” and the saddle used by the family patriarch, W.R. Hext, until his death 36 years ago.

Canadian volunteer firefighters, assisted by crews from Sweetwater Creek and Higgins, battled the blaze and were able to contain the damage, but the barn and hay were a total loss.
