The Hemphill County Sheriff’s Office has just reported that a warrant has been issued for the arrest of 25-year-old Lazaro Santoyo of Canadian, who is now a suspect in the August 22 shooting of Luis Herrera at Canadian Apartments.
Santoyo was named earlier this week as a ‘person of interest’ in the shooting. Following his identification as either a suspect or witness in that incident, Sheriff James Pearson said further details had been provided establishing probable cause for his arrest on charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, a second-degree felony.
Santoyo’s whereabouts are still unknown, Pearson reported. Anyone with information that would be helpful in locating Santoyo is urged to contact the Hemphill County Sheriff’s Office at 806.323.5324 as soon as possible. The public’s assistance is always appreciated. All informants will remain anonymous.
Any updates in this investigation will be reported online at www.canadianrecord.com as they are made available.
