It takes many hands and hearts to prepare a holiday meal for the WCTU Bazaar. This 108th year is no different as the willing cooks of this community come together to serve the quintessential turkey dinner with all the trimmings this Friday, Dec. 4, as a fundraiser for the Hemphill County Library. Linda Rader heads up the Kitchen Committee which includes specialty jobs like Turkey Cutters, Dressing Makers, Gravy Ladlers, Roll Warmer, Potato Mashers, Green Bean Boilers, Dessert Slicers, Dining Room Setters, Maker of Cranberry Sauce, Money-Takers, Delivery Organizer and Delivery Servers. In an effort to alleviate crowding in the kitchen, a new strategy has been planned for the carry-outs. Deliveries and carryout food trays will be served from the glassed-in snack room of the library. Those picking up and delivering those meals, as well as anyone needing ramp access to the dining room, will utilize the pedestrian entry through the glass doors on the 5th Street side of the library. The meal (lunch only) is served in the WCTU/library basement—family-style, all you can eat, from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm. Plates for adults cost $10 and children’s are $5. For deliveries, call 806.683.8050.
