Award-winning artist Kirk Richards of Amarillo is being featured through November 2 in a portrait and still life exhibition at Canadian River Art Center. On Saturday evening, CRAC hosted a reception for Richards, a classical realist painter who studied with prominent American painter and teacher Richard Lack in Minneapolis.
The exhibit includes exquisite portraiture (some with religious symbolism), landscapes (of the Southwest) and still lifes (with varied subjects, beautiful flowers as well). The largest painting is “Twilight,” a striking 48×60 portrait of a woman in a blue dress with a crescent moon in the background. The unusual frame design for this piece was by R. Kim Poarch.
Richards taught a workshop at CRAC in mid-August and hopes to return next year for another session.
