Sheriff-appointee Nathan Lewis promises smooth transition, no lapse in coverage

Hemphill County Sheriff-appointee Nathan Lewis will assume office at 12:01 am Friday morning, when he receives the oath of office from County Judge George Briant in a swearing-in ceremony to be conducted in the commissioners courtroom.

On Tuesday morning, Lewis spoke with The Record about the positions he has filled and the plans he has made for this week’s transition from Sheriff James Pearson’s watch to his, saying he expected the transfer of power to be a smooth one. . . .
