Prescribed burn plan at Gene Howe WMA officially on hold following notification failures

A legal notice in the Sept. 1 edition of The Record alerted Hemphill County residents to plan by Texas Parks and Wildlife Department to conduct prescribed fires between Sept. 5 and Sept. 30 on the Gene Howe Wildlife Management Area. But at midweek this week, those plans had been doused due to inadequate notification, and the prescribed burn was officially on hold until at least the beginning of 2017. . . .
