Fourteen Wildcats Earn All-District Honors

Fresh off their run to the state quarterfinals, the 2013 Canadian Wildcats claimed 22 overall spots on the 1-2A All-District 1st and 2nd teams. Senior quarterback Ben Arbuckle headlined the Wildcat selections, locking up the District MVP Award.

The 6’3 gunslinger racked up 3,824 yards on 285-of-388 passing, while stacking up 49 touchdowns and only throwing six interceptions. Arbuckle also earned honors as a punter on the All-District Special Teams 1st team. He was joined by sophomore kicker Benigno Heredia who added stability to the Wildcat kicking game in his firs year with the team, knocking in 68 of his 79 attempted extra points/field goals.

Six other Cats were selected to the All-District team on both sides of the ball. The duo of Braiden Galla and Boston Hudson were named 1st-teamers on the defensive and offensive All-District teams. Hudson finished his senior campaign with 1,094 receiving yards and 16 touchdowns, while Galla picked up 971 yards and 18 scores. Lineman Johnny Swires earned 1st team honors for his work on both the defensive and offensive lines. Bo Dickinson joined Swires on the defensive 1st team, while wrapping up a spot on the offensive 2nd team. Brock Hedgecoke and Marc Marquez each notched spots on both the offensive and defensive 2nd teams.

The remaining Cats picking up honors for their contributions on offense were running back Chance Cook, center Tucker Brown, receiver Sawyer Cook and lineman Jose Vigil. On the defensive side, Canadian was also represented on the 1st team by linebacker Manny Salas and outside linebacker Cory Chidester.

Cooper Trolinger and Michael Sansing both earned honorable mentions for their work in the linebacker slot, while Cameron Cooper and Isaac Trevino were honorable mentions on the offensive side.
