Panhandle Community Services Awarded $700,000 Through the Texas Veteran’s Commission

Panhandle Community Services will be able to continue serving Veteran’s in the top 26 counties of the Texas Panhandle through funds received from the Texas Veteran’s Commission. Two programs exist Restoring America’s Heroes Project, which will be able to provide critical home repairs for both Veterans and their surviving spouses and a general assistance program as well.

DETAILS:

Provided monies will bring assistance for eligible veterans and surviving spouses and will be used to make critical repairs, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, roofs, doors, windows, refrigerators, and stoves. The grant can also modify homes for handicapped accessibility in bathrooms, walkways, and ramps. PCS will adapt a plan according to the specific needs of each household that qualifies.

Low-income Veterans may receive assistance with rent, deposits, fees, mortgage payments, utility bills, internet, phone, car repairs, and restorative dental.

This program is supported by a grant from the Texas Veterans Commission Fund for Veterans’ Assistance. The Fund for Veterans’ Assistance provides grants to organizations serving veterans and their families. Further information is available at https://www.tvc.texas.gov

 

WHO QUALIFIES:
For Home Restoration, eligibility for the project includes individuals who have served in any U.S. military branch or the surviving spouse of a veteran and qualify at or below the 2023 income guidelines. Veterans may also qualify if they are disabled, as defined by the Veteran Administration and under $100,000 income. Eligible participants include both active duty and former service members who live in the top 26 counties of Texas in the PCS service area own their homes and current on their mortgage and property taxes

Residents of the top 26 counties of Texas can apply at the PCS service center closest to them, visit the agency’s website www.pcsvcs.org to learn more.
