Area food producers/crafters, providers and advocates are invited to the Ogallala Common’s Texas Panhandle Local Food Summit on Tuesday, May 14. The Summit will be held at the Pampa EDC Building Meeting Room, located at 200 Ballard St. in downtown Pampa, from 9:30 am to 3:30 pm.

The Summit is intended to share peer-to-peer learning opportunities, to build knowledge and inspire new coalitions among agricultural producers and consumers, enabling them to become stronger and more hopeful as we move into the new growing season.

The Summit kicks off with morning presentations on “Getting started in Food Production/Crafting” and “Marketing Local Food to Customers,” as well as “Growing/Marketing Greens and Vegetables.” After a catered enchilada lunch made from 4B Meats and Watonga Cheese Factory cheddar, the afternoon segment will feature sessions on “Local Meat Production/Processing & Marketing,” plus presentations on “Envisioning a Food Hub for the Panhandle” and “Senior Hunger: Using Local Produce in Meal Programs,” as well “Social Media Tips for Local Producers.”

The Summit will conclude at 3:30 pm.

Registration for the Summit is $35 per person.  You can register online by May 7 using this link (https://bit.ly/3vTVgoP), or call or email darryl@ogallalacommons.org, 806.945.2255 to secure your registration, and pay at the door on May 14.
