David Lee Westbrook, Sr., 78-year-old resident of Grand Lake (Crace Shores), Oklahoma, passed away at his home on Thursday, October 12, 2023, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on July 12, 1945, in Brownfield, to Arthur and Minnie Pearl (Pinion) Westbrook.
The Rev. Canon William D. [Bill] Nix, Jr., 82, died Wednesday, October 4, 2023, at his home in Fort Worth, TX.
Nix is survived by his wife Puddin, of Canadian and Fort Worth; two sons, Todd Nix and wife Gervaise of Austin, and Colin Nix of Dallas; a daughter, Emilie Nix of Amarillo, and four grandchildren, Paris Nix of Austin, Trevor Shoels, Tayler McWatters, and Teagan McWatters of Amarillo.
Judy Rader Mann, 67, of Canadian, stepped into her heavenly home with a triumphant smile Monday, Oct 2, 2023, in Amarillo with the love of her life, Matt, by her side.
Funeral services will be 2 pm on Friday, October 6, at the Canadian Methodist Church with Rev. David Gerhardt, pastor, officiating. Immediately following, burial will be at the Lipscomb Cemetery in Lipscomb.
Patricia "Tricia" Pearl Paris, of Snyder, Texas, went to be with her Heavenly Father on Friday, September 29, 2023.
Andrew Taylor was born July 8, 1937, at home on the family’s allotted Cherokee Homestead in Gideon, Oklahoma, to Andy and Hersie Taylor. He was their pride and joy since they already had his six older sisters. It didn’t take long for the family to start calling him A.C., a nickname that stayed with him for his entire life. He died September 27, 2023.
William (Bill) H. Brace, 95, of Weyauwega, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully in his home with family by his side on September 21, 2023. Bill was born on November 8, 1927, in Canadian, Texas, to Addison and Alice Brace, brother to Harold Jack Brace.
Bill served in the Navy from 1944 - 1947 in the Pacific, and was then stationed in Norfolk, Virginia, after the war. In 1951, he was recalled by the Naval Reserve to serve in Korea.
Melvin Lee Walser, 87, of Canadian passed into his heavenly home September 20, 2023, in Canadian.
A public viewing will be held from 1-8 pm on Saturday, September 23, and from 1-8 pm on Sunday, September 24, at Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Home’s Canadian location. The family will receive visitors from 4 to 5:30 pm on Sunday, September 24, at the Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Home located in Canadian.
Teresa Stephenson, 73, of Booker, stepped into her heavenly home Tuesday, September 19, 2023, in Booker.
Jack Lloyd Gill was born December 6, 1931, in Lipscomb County Texas to Leland Henry Gill and Clara Cocanowen McAllister. Jack passed from this life on September 13, 2023, at the age of 91.
Jack began his adult life serving in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was proud of being a veteran. After the war, he went to work for the Santa Fe Railroad until retirement. He loved to dance and especially enjoyed square dancing. He loved to visit and never met a stranger.
