Canadian ISD announces lone finalist for Superintendent

The Canadian Independent School District Board of Trustees is pleased to announce that Dr. Julia McMains is the lone finalist for the position of Canadian ISD Superintendent. After a competitive search that included 19 highly qualified applicants, the Board selected Dr. McMains due to her extensive experience in curriculum, dedication to staff and students, and unwavering commitment to academic excellence.

Dr. McMains is currently the Superintendent at Eustace ISD. Her previous experience includes service as Assistant Superintendent and Director of Curriculum and Instruction at Palacios ISD, Principal and Assistant Principal at Middle and Elementary Schools at Mansfield ISD, and ten years as a classroom teacher. She has also worked as an Adjunct Professor at Stephen F. Austin State University, in the Principal Preparation Program. Dr. McMains has experience growing a rural school district to provide students with opportunities to excel in a variety of academics, extra-curricular activities, dual credit and workforce readiness.

“Dr. McMains brings a wealth of educational leadership expertise, and we are so excited to introduce her to our students, parents and staff,” said Board President Rudy Godino. “Dr. McMains will provide the leadership needed to continue Canadian ISD’s tradition of high expectations, providing a safe learning environment, developing character, and preparing Canadian ISD students for the future. The Board looks forward to working with Dr. McMains as a Team of Eight.”

The Board looks forward to finalizing Dr. McMains’ employment following the state-mandated twenty-one day waiting period.
